Penny was our female guinea pig who was about years old when she left us on November 28th, 2005. She liked to push around the ball in her home. She had three different kinds of habitats, her cage, play box, outside in her grazing crate and then she also was allowed out in the house occasionally. Penny liked to eat carrots, radish leaves, radishes, oranges and pears. She also liked to get herself covered in bedding. When Penny was in her play box or grazing crate she liked to hide in a piece of plastic pipe that is just big enough for her to fit through. When she was in her grazing crate outside, she liked to hide in a dark corner. She was very energetic even when she was alone and would re-arrange her food bowl and other toys in her cage, sometimes in the middle of the night. Sometimes she made some very happy purring type sounds when she knew food was on its way. She would also squeak when she was scared or just lonely and needed attention. Penny did not need any grooming help from us except to clip her nails. This was always hard because she just wouldn't stop moving around. Penny reallly liked carrots and would just steal them from your hand if she smelled them. She would try to get as much attention as she could by squeaking all the time. Penny would chew on her cage but she never got out. Most of the time she chewed on her cage to get our attention when she thought it was time to eat. We will all miss her |
